John V. Kane, Ph.D., wife, and sons

Welcome to my website! I am an Associate Professor at New York University’s Center for Global Affairs as well as a Visiting Research Scholar in the Department of Political Science at Stony Brook University.

My current research areas include political partisanship and ideology, public opinion and behavior, political psychology, foreign policy, and quantitative research methods.

I love teaching political science, particularly research methods for political and social science. Outside of academics, I hang out with my two wild sons, play guitar and drums, and write and record music.

Lastly, I (for some reason) enjoy making guides for doing data visualization in Stata. My guides can be found on Medium’s “Stata Gallery” here.

For additional information, please see my CV, check out my ResearchGate page and/or Google Scholar page, follow me on Twitter (@UptonOrwell) or on BlueSky.
